The scheme will provide a high-quality and attractive affordable housing development that complements the local character, while providing new green spaces and improved connections for residents. The scheme will:
The site is located in Huntingdon between Mayfield Road and Suffolk Close.
The site consists of a 7 storey apartment block known as Suffolk House, a 2 storey apartment block which is known as Grenville House, 10no. single storey dwellings and 32 garages.
The existing buildings on the site are approaching the end of their functional life and would require extensive upgrades to meet modern standards. While these improvements have been carefully considered, they would not represent the best use of funding and would limit the opportunity to deliver a greater number of new, energyefficient homes for local people. The proposed regeneration scheme aims to better meet current and future housing needs.
The garages on the site are no longer fit for purpose and have become vacant, resulting in unused spaces that can attract antisocial behaviour. The proposed redevelopment will transform this underutilised area into high-quality, affordable family homes— bringing positive change to the neighbourhood and creating a safer, more welcoming environment for residents.
To the north of the site is a small series of local shops, to the east is residential development and to the south west is Hartford Infant and Hartford Junior Schools.
